04.27.11

I'm sure that by now most everyone has heard about the horrific weather that devastated the south yesterday. Thankfully, the worst weather was well to our north, but it still affected several of our friends and family members.

We have a few cousins who live in Tuscaloosa that suffered some pretty severe property damage, but everyone made it through safely. A good friend of ours had some of her show and breeding horses at a barn north of Birmingham that took a direct hit from a tornado. Her stallion made it through safely, but her show filly was injured. She hadn't heard anything about her broodmare yet. :(

Please continue to pray for all of those who lost family members, friends, homes, pets, etc. At the last count, over 131 people lost their lives in Alabama yesterday.

"This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. I will heal you." -- 2 Kings 20:5

After such destruction, devastation, and loss, I am so thankful for the promises of our Savior.

Rambling

I still haven't edited the photos from our weekend in Montgomery. I'm beginning to think that it might be a little while longer before I have the time to get to them. Oh well! I'll post them on here as soon as I get finished with them. :)

I drove to the trainer's barn (3 hours one way, thankyouverymuch!) twice last week to get pictures of our boy and watch him with his very first rider. He's coming along beautifully and should be ready for the Murfreesboro, Tennessee show in September.

Our regional show (Region 12) is May 2 - 7, but it doesn't look like we'll be able to make it. Brett has some work obligations that can't be rearranged and I'm not keen on driving 6+ hours by myself. Yes, I'm a chicken -- and I'm OK with that! LOL

My mom is having surgery on her foot tomorrow and we'd all be very appreciative for all the prayers she can get. She's going to be laid up for 12 weeks and is not going to be a very happy patient. She's supposed to be in bed for the first 2 weeks and I asked my dad if he was going to get her a little bell to ring if she needed anything. With a straight face he said "No. No way!" Poor mom!

Spring has sprung!

Do you want to know how to tell if it's spring at our house? It's pretty simple actually. :)

Is it all the honeysuckle growing in the cypress trees? Nope!

Is it a smiling baby "riding" on the tractor for the first time? Think again!

Roscoe on the boat? YEP!

When the "big" boat comes out, you know winter is officially out of here! The boys (Roscoe included!) were more than happy to launch the jet boat Sunday afternoon. The weather was absolutely perfect for an afternoon on the water. We invited some friends down and had a great time grilling out and riding the boat.

Roscoe loves it when everyone starts going down to the river all the time. He's such a happy boy down there! Nothing makes him happier than riding on the boat or begging someone to throw his ball in the water for him to fetch.

These pictures are 3 days later than they should be, but it's been a crazy week. Our office is shortstaffed this week because of spring break and Brett's 31st birthday is tomorrow. Instead of celebrating on his actual birthday, we're taking a 4 day weekend and driving up to Montgomery to hang out with his dad and step-mom. Marlene will be selling her book at the Alabama Book Festival and we're there for moral support and lots of pestering! :)

I'm pretty excited because we'll be staying here for the first time. I'm not sure what I'm most excited about -- the spa or the rooftop pool! I've been wanting to eat at SA ZA for quiet some time so I'm looking forward to that, too.

I don't know that I'll blog while we're there or not, but I will take lots of pictures to share when we get home.

Tranquility

When God created the horse, he said to the magnificent creature: I have made thee as no other.
All the treasures of the earth shall lie between thy eyes.
Thou shalt cast thy enemies between thy hooves,
but thou shalt carry my friends upon they back.
Thy saddle shall be the seat of prayers to me.
And thou fly without any wings, and conquer without any sword
- The Koran
