Heaven is for Real {Book Review}

It's been a while since I've written a book review for Book Sneeze, so bear with me while I dust off a bit!

I was very skeptical when I requested "Heaven is for Real" from Book Sneeze. I started reading "90 Minutes in Heaven" a few years ago and never made it past the first few chapters. I've always thought that most near-death experience memoirs were embarringly cheesy and fake and didn't expect this book to be any different. I'm not ashamed to admit that I pre-judged this book incorrectly!

Within the first few chapters the sincerity behind this story was clear. At no point did I feel that Colton's was coerced or encouraged by his parents. His pure faith is an inspiration and made for a very enjoyable book. I read it twice and then loaned it to my mother and a co-worker -- both of them loved it at well!

The Simple Life

We had a quiet, almost boring weekend at home and I was SO grateful for it!

We went to a local BBQ place for our Friday night date. They have the best sliced turkey sandwich in the universe. Seriously. SO good! After dinner we drove around looking at a couple houses that are for sale. We're really thinking about moving closer to town so Brett's commute won't be so long.

{One of the houses we're looking at}

Saturday was a lazy day. I don't think we left the house until lunch time! Brett actually went shopping with me {he hates Walmart!} and it was so nice to have an extra pair of hands to help. We spent most of the afternoon hanging out around the house and then Brett made jambalaya for dinner. He doesn't cook often, but when he does, it is seriously good. I brought leftovers to work for lunch today!

 {Reese decided to take up my side of the bed Saturday night!}

Sunday was my housework catch-up day. Our bedroom and the office had gotten a little out of hand! I made The Pioneer Woman's chicken and dumplings for Sunday dinner with my parents and it was delicious. I was a little skeptical since it wasn't a traditional style chicken and dumplings, but I will definitely be making this again. Yummy!

I'm taking my life insurance test this Friday and I'm a little nervous about it. Everyone says that this test is MUCH harder than the one I took in February and I've never been good with timed tests. I'm praying that I manage to pass it!

Our weekend {via Instagram}

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to pray for Alaina. We've learned 2 things over the past 2 weeks -- 1. God answers prayers and 2. Alaina is a ROCKSTAR! For more detailed updates on how she's doing, please check out the update/prayer blog that is being kept up by her childhood best friend.

Now back to the regularly scheduled programming! :)

Brett, his younger brother, and I went up to Scottsboro this past weekend to help Marlene with her "Art in the Park" tent. As usual, we had an incredible time and I'm still nowhere near finished editing pictures. Thankfully, Brett and I took plenty of photos on our iPhones so I'll share those until the real ones are ready!
