I think I have finally beaten the sinus infection that has had me down for a week. It's about time! Brett is finally over his "anti-buying an older house to remodel" kick thanks to HGTV's Property Brothers. I wish they had started this show 6 years ago! I went "shopping" in our storage building yesterday afternoon. We still have 20+ boxes in there from our move 4 years ago. I found some of my favorite mixing bowls out there so that saved me $30. We finally had our taxes done and we have to pay this year. Ugh. Have I ever mentioned how much I dislike tax season? Brett and I have a 3 day weekend this week and it's been so nice spending some extra time together. He may drive me nuts sometimes, but he really is my best friend. I weighed in this morning and I'm down 2.4 lbs. this week. I'm pretty excited about that. :)
I had an epiphany this morning and to tell you the truth, it was a long time coming.
Despite my love for the Arabian horse, the industry as a whole has some major flaws and it's just not worth the time, money, and effort anymore. I love to show more than anything almost anything in the world, but for the money you spend trying to even get a chance to compete with the big boys, you could buy a new car instead. It's seriously ridiculous. My sweet hubby allowed me to play that game last year and was even willing to let me have another go at it this year, but I've decided that it's just not worth it anymore.
This year I want to focus my energy on spending more time with God, my family and friends, and developing my photography skills. :)
A southern girl is a girl who knows full and well that she can open a door for herself but prefers for the gentleman to do it because it demonstrates a sense of respect. After all, every girl wants to be treated like a princess. We know how to make sweet tea and grits while telling you everything about any football team in the SEC. We pick our battles and fight with the heart of a pit bull while still maintaining grace and elegance. Our mystique is that of a soft-spoken, mild-mannered southern belle who could direct an army, loves her momma and will always be daddy's little girl.
