No Words

Last night my amazing sister-in-law, Alaina, suffered 3 strokes as a result of a torn carotid artery.

She is 32 and lives in Washington D.C. She works for HERSA as an analyst for newborn genetic and enviornmental birth defect. She is a triathelete, cast member of DMG Improv, and your classic Alabama southern belle. In case you can't tell by now, I adore this girl!

Alaina is in a D.C. hospital in very serious condition. My mother-in-law is currently en route to D.C. now and should be there around 11 a.m. D.C. time. We should get another update then. The chief Neurologist is leading her care.

Please, please help us pray for Alaina's full recovery.

O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me. -- Psalm 30:2

It's (almost!) my birthday and I'll plan if I want to...

My birthday is coming up this weekend and my sweet hubby is letting me plan a little get-away! According to him, I'm pretty predictable and he wasn't shocked at all with my choices.

First, I'll be bringing my camera and spending a little time here...

Second, we'll be going to dinner at one of my all-time favorite restaurants on the bay in Niceville. I thought I had a picture from the deck, but I don't. Oh well!

Third, Brett is FINALLY taking me to go see The Help! I can't wait!

Fourth, if I really get my way (hahaha!) we'll be going to Lumpy's Wine Bar after the movie. I've wanted to check it out for a while, but I haven't had the chance.

Summer is winding down

One of my favorite times of the year is on it's way! I love the transition from Summer into Fall. The first chilly mornings bring hints of college football, scarves, chili potlucks, and trips to Mentone to see the leaves change. I'm so excited!

I was so excited on my way out to the car this morning. I'm LOVING this!

Our neighbor brough us a box full of goodies from his garden. This is probably the last big harvest of the year so we're going to savor every last bite!

Another perk of the cooler temperatures is the big change in the horses' behavior. Everyone has an extra pep in their step! I had a great time out at the barn last Saturday and I ended up with a few cute candids.

Happy Almost-End-of-Summer! :)
