Debut

Yesterday was a great day for us! Not only was it my dad's birthday, but we took our '67 Camaro to the race track for the very first time! This car has been a 7+ year project and watching it go down the track was an incredible feeling.

This was the first time my mom had gone racing with us in well over 10 years so I was a little excited about that! My cousin brought his Camaro and one of our closest friends and his fiancee brought their car as well. I was beyond honored to be asked by W & K to be the photographer at their wedding next month! I can't wait!

Without further ado, our 1967 Camaro! :)

Edited to share another wonderful debut! Ames delivered a beautiful bay filly this morning at 11:00. She's exquisite and I can't wait to see what her future holds. What an amazing weekend!

Foaling Season

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you've probably seen my tweets from the barn the past couple days nights. The second baby of the year is getting close to making his/her appearance and we'll be on-hand in case Momma needs a hand. This baby is going to be huge and we don't want her to run into complications during delivery. I was at the barn from 8:45 - 3:30 Sunday night/Monday morning (minus an hour to bring Brett back home), all day yesterday, and from 8:00 - 1:30 last night. I was so tired from the night before and Momma was showing no signs of having that baby. UGH!

For the duration of foaling season I will be keeping a blanket, pillow, gloves, and jacket in my car at all times. I'm just extremely grateful that we have heaters in the barn apartment or else I would FREEZE!

Trip Recap

This post is a little way late, but I've been having a harder time than normal getting back in the groove after a trip. :)

This is what we woke up to Monday morning. Scottsboro ended up getting right at 8" of snow! We spent a large portion of Monday playing in the snow with the neighbors. I think the adults were having as much fun (or more!) than the kids!

Brett and I made it home late Tuesday afternoon after a very slick drive home. The roads between Scottsboro and Fort Payne were what I expected them to be so no shock there. The roads from Fort Payne to Trussville were HORRIBLE. I honestly think that it is easier to drive the roads up to Buffalo, NY than it was to drive I-59S after this storm. Our car slid half a dozen times, but thankfully I was able to keep it under control each time. I was so glad when we made it into Birmingham and the roads were in better shape!

Snowed In

Brett and I came up to north Alabama on Thursday for "Dr. Dad" to check him out and try to find out why his sinus infection wasn't going away. I'm happy to report that the THIRD!!! antibiotic finally did the trick and he's almost back to normal. We had planned to drive home this afternoon, but Mother Nature had other plans.

We're in the EXTREME northeast section of Alabama and home is on the opposite end of the state. It's pretty obvious why we're not on the road right now, huh?! We're supposed to end up with 8" or so of snow before it's over with! I can't wait to take tons of pictures tomorrow morning. I'd love to drive up Sand Mountain in the morning, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the roads are going to be closed. :)

I'm excited about the chance to play in the snow, but another mare is getting ready to foal at home and it's going to be my luck that the baby will decide to come while we're up here! She started showing some early signs on Friday so she could go at anytime. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll wait until I'm home first, though. :)

InLove Again J and BH Torino proudly introduce their 2011 colt!
